What documents are mandatory?
Listed below are the mandatory documents for obtaining a visa. This is applicable to all visa categories.
- Original Passport copy
- Passport with at least 6 months validity except for American nationality.
- The Passport must not have any conditions which prevent a passport holder from entering his/ her country.
- Recent photograph with white background.
- Visa Copy
- A copy of the civil ID valid for a period of no less than 3 months
Business Visa
A Business Visa can come as single entry or multiple entry visas. This visa allows you to take part in meetings related to business and other professional work.
The following are the mandatory requirements for obtaining a Business Visa:
- Invitation/ Pre-approval letter
- Certificate of registration for the Saudi Company from the Ministry of Commerce and Investment.
- Letter from your current employer, stating the professional status and purpose of the visit to the Kingdom, this document needs to be attested by the chamber of commerce and ministry of foreign affairs along with the commercial licence and signature approval for the company. (Etemad Tawqeer in Arabic).
Visit Visa
A Visit visa is one that allows you to be included in activities such as visiting family, leisure, Umrah. Activities such as Hajj and studying are not included in this type of visa.
Mentioned below are the mandatory requirements for obtaining a Visit Visa:
- The minimum age of applicants is 18. (For children under 18, the parent is required to apply first).
- When applying, the passport must be valid for at least six months.
- Applicants need to have a residency visa valid for three months.
- For religious tourists, please note that visa holders can perform Umrah anytime except during the Hajj season.
- The Resident’s occupation should be among the eligible occupations listed on the portal.
Employment Visa

An employment visa is what you need. This type of visa is a single entry visa that allows you to work on a work contract in Saudi Arabia for 3 months.
Listed below are the mandatory requirements for obtaining an Employment Visa:
- Work permit issued by the competent authorities in the kingdom.
- Medical certificate attested by the MOFA of the host country. ( According to the official form).
- A copy of the educational certificate attested by the MoFA of the host country and the Saudi Arabia culture is attached, along with the original to the match.
- Original experience letter attested by the MoFA of the host country.
- A copy of the employment contract attested by the MoFA of Saudi Arabia.
- Police clearance certificate attested by the host country
Temporary/Short-term work visa
This visa allows foreign nationalities to work in Saudi Arabia for a short term period with multiple entries. This could be for a short term work or project.
The following are the mandatory requirements for obtaining a Temporary/Short-term work visa:
- Work permit issued by the competent authorities in the kingdom.
- Electronic authorization from a private recruitment office or Chamber of Commerce in the kingdom by the Saudi company.
- A medical examination from one of the approved medical clinics.
- A work contract signed between the two parties for seasonal employment.
- List of the names of the candidates for a short-term work visa, signed by the competent authorities.
- Drug screening.
Family Residence Visa
One must get a resident visa if they are planning to bring their family to Saudi Arabia. The following documents are needed.
- Original Passport with at least six months of validity (including the old passports)
- A copy of Husband’s Passport
- A copy of Husband’s valid Iqama
- A copy of the Marriage Certificate
- Polio Card for children below 15 years
- Birth Certificate Copy
- Visa Slip
- Photographs – 8 nos. (6 x 4 in size, and in white background)
- Medically Fit Report issued by Saudi Panel Doctor
- Medical report is not needed or children of 0-11 years of age
Child Visa Stamping
You shall carry the following documents to get your child’s visa stamped by the ministry.
- Child’s Passport with at least 6 months validity (including the old passports)
- Mother’s original Passport
- Father’s valid Passport copy
- Father’s valid Iqama copy
- Polio Card (if the child is below 15 years)
- Visa Application Form
- 4 Photos in white background
